Lithgow Hospital Medical Imaging department

Sherson Architecture has been commissioned by Health Infrastructure to design and deliver the MRI modifications to Lithgow Hospitals medical imaging department which includes the addition of a new 1.5T MRI, anaesthetic bay, recovery areas, sub waiting areas, staff reporting spaces and clean utility areas. The single storey addition will be added to the existing building footprint with requirements for the new building element to match the existing hospital ‘look’ while creating a comforting environment for patients using the new MRI service. Challenges include finding a balance between infection control requirements and acoustic requirements within the MRI room and integrating new nurse call systems within the existing hospital.
